Festivals in May

Since 2003, NC Young Playwrights has been a program for students and teachers dedicated to increasing playwriting in the K-12 classroom in North Carolina. NC Young Playwrights is the perfect opportunity for students to receive the collaborative, intensive, professional exposure to the world of playwriting.

Burning Coal Theatre Company's KidsWrite! Festival, which began in 2004, is a celebration of plays written by 6th-12th graders residing in Wake and thirteen surrounding counties. Students submit one-act plays, and with a team of professional theatre makers, Burning Coal produces selected scripts.

NCTC Middle School Play Festival

Saturday, March 9
All Day @ Reidsville High School, Reidsville, NC
The Carroll Theatre Company is a proud member of NCTC!

Each spring, the NCTC Middle School Play Festival brings together students from across NC to share their talents, receive feedback from industry professionals and celebrate theatrical excellence.

Schools load-in their set into a backstage area that is approximately 10′x10′, before taking the stage to perform their play. Students have 45 minutes to tell their story and leave the stage completely clear. Following their performance, students receive verbal and written feedback from industry experts. When not performing, students watch performances from other schools, learn from their peers and make new theatre friends.

At the end of the Festival, numerous awards are presented in an exciting ceremony that celebrates the achievements of all participants.
