NC Young Playwrights Festival
KidsWrite Festival Playwriting Begins in August Submissions Due January Festivals in May Since 2003, NC Young Playwrights has been a program for students and teachers dedicated to increasing playwriting in the K-12 classroom in North Carolina. NC Young Playwrights is the perfect opportunity for students to receive the collaborative, intensive, professional exposure to the world of playwriting. Burning Coal Theatre Company's KidsWrite! Festival, which began in 2004, is a celebration of plays written by 6th-12th graders residing in Wake and thirteen surrounding counties. Students submit one-act plays, and with a team of professional theatre makers, Burning Coal produces selected scripts. Click HERE for more information on NCYPF. Middle School Shakespeare Festival
Thursday, February 8 9:00AM-12:00PM @ Enloe High School Enloe High School hosts middle school theatre students from across the district to honor the work of William Shakespeare. Mrs. Huffman's year-long 8th grade advanced theatre students attend the festival as a field trip. Students study Shakespeare's masterpiece Macbeth, and work collaboratively to develop an original, condensed Greek Chorus interpretation of the play to perform at the festival. |
NCTC Showcase
Thursday, March 7 6:00-7:00 PM in the CMMS Theatre The Carroll Theatre Company hosts a spring showcase to celebrate the hard work and achievement of Jr. ITS Troupe 89195. The featured play will also be performed at the NC Theatre Conference Middle School Play Festival at Reidsville High School. This event is FREE! Donations are encouraged.
